My Tattoo: Infinity Sign

I realized today that I have never shared with my blog my tattoo. Well, I got it last November with my best friend, Christina. We were on 6th street in Austin while her cousin got a tattoo and Christina decided to get her tattoo (a Bobcat on her left foot) and I decided to get something I’d always wanted: the infinity sign on the back of my neck. (Above pic is a day or two after I got it)

Bobcat Tattoo   Getting my Infinity Tattoo

I know, I know… they’re overdone, everyone has one. But I have wanted one for a long time, and really I DO NOT care! I went with the simplest design and I think it turned out really great!

We got our tattoos done at All Saints Tattoo, and it was really fun. Christina’s cousin gets all of her tattoos there and the people are really cool – no one made fun of me for getting my tattoo hehe

Why did I get it? Because I like it.

Will I regret it? Nah, I can’t even see it usually so how will I get sick of it? :P

Plus I *really* hate that ‘hump’ part of the back of my neck. And the tattoo totally makes it pretty :)

Jake isn’t a big fan of tattoos… so maybe this will be my only one. But I still want to get my swan. And Christina wants me to get a matching bobcat tattoo.. we will see.

My Mentos Pure Fresh Moment Contest!

Unfortunately, the following story is true… although admittedly slightly over-dramatized for effect :P

My story is not one of romantic or sweet anecdotes. Mine is one on the embarrassing side! The thing you have to know about me is that I, like countless other gum aficionados, love to chew gum! I chew it all the time and I’m usually the go to girl if you want to ‘score’ a piece of gum. I have my own personal stash of gum packages at home, so I usually never run out. I’m also pretty easy going when it comes to sharing (except when I’m on my last piece of course). But the negative side of being an avid gum chewer is the mess. My purse or backpack was usually filled with lots of foil wrappers because I’d save and use them to put the old gum in to throw away later, and if I didn’t clean out my bags routinely it could start to pile up.

Well, during finals week, I had lost track of my usual routine clean-up and the gum wrappers had accumulated to a new level as my chewing habits increased with my stress level of finals. On my way to my last final of the week this past Wednesday, I was a wreck. I slung my purse over my shoulder to begin the trek from the library to class. In the seconds it took for me to toss my purse, it felt like painful slow motion as I lost hold of the straps. I tried to catch it mid air, but the purse flung onto the floor and the contents of my bag were thrown with it.

ALL OF MY GUM WRAPPERS came out of my bag and landed onto the library floor. I was mortified. In hindsight, probably not many people paid much attention to what I had done, but in that moment it felt as though hundreds of eyes were on me as I scooped the huge amount of wrappers back into my bag. I left the library, my head hung in shame. I immediately went into the nearest rest room, threw the foil wrappers into the trash, and then went to take my psychology final.

Mentos Pure Fresh GumWith my final over and the stress of the fall semester behind me, my mind wandered to the day’s earlier events. I had already received and opened my Holiday VoxBox and sampled the Mentos gum inside, and as I sat there chewing the yummy Fresh Mint flavor, a thought hit me! The next day, I went straight into the store and picked up a few containers of Mentos Pure Fresh Mint Gum. Mentos Pure Fresh Gum didn’t necessarily give me one moment I’ll look back on and remember fondly; Mentos gave me a lifestyle change and that’s worth more to me. Gum wrappers no more!
